What respiratory protection is needed for wood dust?
The particle filter class follows from the type of dust and its concentration; hardwood dust demands particular attention. Extraction always comes first and protective equipment supplements it - and it only protects if the mask seals, so not over a beard.
Can gloves be worn at a circular saw?
At rotating tools gloves create an entanglement hazard, so they are usually prohibited there. The risk assessment must state machine by machine where hand protection is mandatory and where it is forbidden - there is no general rule in between.
Are earplugs enough, or are ear defenders needed?
The measured noise level and the required attenuation decide, not comfort. Earplugs give high attenuation when inserted correctly, but in practice they are often inserted badly. Where people move in and out of the noisy area, ear defenders are easier to manage.
